I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing
Just praying to a God that I don't believe in

Erinn hated Deercreek Ranch. It was a simple fact of life that she couldn't seem to change and every moment that she was there, she wanted out. She hated the structure of it, the fact that they had to work with animals, and the fact that being there implied that she needed help. As far as Erinn was concerned, the last thing that she needed was help and so she continued to actively avoid the counselors and whatever they felt they needed to say to her. She was making absolutely no progress in that area and with her steely determination, it seemed like she probably wouldn't make much progress for quite some time. However, Erinn didn't care. It wasn't their place to probe through her mind and come up with stupid reasons as to why she did what she did, since she had obviously already cleared it up- she did it because she wanted to. Mostly, she was still just simmering with anger. Her parents hadn't even consulted with her before sending her off a million miles away to a place like this. Counselors at home were bad, but this was just an entirely new level of hell.
It wasn't like Erinn even liked horses. In fact, they still sort of intimidated her. They were big and could easily squash her if they took the mind to it, so it wasn't exactly easy for her to just relax around them. That was why, for the most part, unless she was specifically told to go near them, she didn't. If she could help it, Erinn chose to avoid the creatures at all costs. It meant a good deal of walking a lot of the time, especially when she was off on the trails, but she didn't care. To her, it was better to have a bit of a sore foot than to be dead from a horse. So, that was why Erinn was padding down the path towards Deer Creek. It wasn't a very exciting place, since it was just a stupid creek, but it was quiet. At least, some of the parts that were a bit off the beaten path were, anyways. In any case, it was much calmer than being stuck back at the actual camp and there wouldn't be nearly as many people around to bother her. To Erinn, that was a successful place to be.
It wasn't that she didn't like people, really, it was mostly that she didn't trust them, or found them to be nuisances. She wasn't the easiest of people to get along with, that was for sure, so she tended to shy away from social settings as much as she could. There were always times when that failed, of course, but she did what she could to stay as far away from people as she possibly could. There were a very select few people that she liked enough to be okay with having them around, but she still wasn't about to go seek them out to hang around with, by any means. Generally, if people wanted to be friends with Erinn, the majority of the effort would have to be on their part. The only time Erinn actively looked to be around people was when she let down her barriers enough to the point where she trusted them and came to need them, but that had yet to happen here at the ranch and Erinn doubted that it would.
Kicking her feet at the dirt path she was walking along, Erinn couldn't help but feel the anger boiling inside of her. She hadn't done a damn thing to deserve being sent here. Sure, she liked the outdoors and she was into sports, but this was like a living hell for her. There was legitimately nothing to do there that didn't involve other people or horses and there definitely wasn't any alcohol around to speak of. That was easily one of the most difficult aspects of being there and it certainly contributed to her general anger. She had come to be so dependent on the liquor that being here was driving her absolutely crazy. She wanted to just sneak out and go hit up the town in hopes of finding someone to sell her some, but that was probably not going to happen anytime soon. As much as she wanted it to, it was highly unlikely.
Reaching the path to lead down to the creek, Erinn turned onto it and quickly found herself in front of the small, flowing creek. There were a few people around, so she continued walking past them to find a quieter and less populated part to settle down on. Once she had arrived at a spot where there were no other people in sight, Erinn settled down on a rock near the edge of the creek to just sit. It probably wasn't the best choice of activities for the young girl and it would have been best for her to keep herself busy, but that would have kept her back at the camp. At least it was sort of peaceful here by the water. Settling in, Erinn rested her elbows on her knees, putting her head in her hands and leaning down to relax. Perhaps this wasn't so bad.
